Taylor Music Festival Faculty and Performer: Jim Carrier

Jim Carrier has performed on bassoon, historic winds and plucked strings for many years. He received BM and MM degrees from Boston University where he studied bassoon and musicology. He has played with a number of early music, Celtic, and traditional music ensembles, including Early Music Consort, Sonus Ensemble, Donnybrook Legacy and the Hungry Monks. Mr. Carrier has toured throughout the U.S., Canada, many parts of Europe, and has appeared at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Cloisters series, the Tage Alte Musik Festival in Regensgurg, Germany, and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival. He has recorded on the Dorian and Hungry Monk recording labels, and has published with Mel Bay Publications. Also an accomplished orchestral player, Mr. Carrier has performed with the Richmond Symphony, Norfolk Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Colonial Williamsburg Band of Musik, Carolina Baroque, Atlanta Camerata, and Atlanta Baroque.
