Taylor Music Festival Faculty and Performer: Na Fidleiri

Na Fidleiri will be in residence during the four days of the Taylor Music Festival. Founded in January of 2000, the ensemble has grown to include 25 fiddles, guitar, bodhran, and penny whistle. The group is Directed by Mary Scott Taylor. Na Fidleiri has performed throughout the Southeast, performing unique arrangements of Irish dance music and airs set for the group. The group performs several concerts for Piccolo Spoleto to standing room only audiences. They have performed for the 2003 Special Olympics, the Kiwanis Club, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Knights of Columbus and at the Augusta Irish Festival and The Florence International Festival. Their CD “From the New Country” has sold over 1000 copies. In 2004 the group performed at the Swannanoa Gathering, in Asheville, North Carolina and studied with such prominent artists as Liz Carrol, Martin Hayes, John Daly, Jerry Holland, Abby Newton, John Doyle and James Keane. The group has been featured on statewide ETV and ETV radio, and has appeared in South Carolina Magazine and Charleston Magazine. Locally, the ensemble performed with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in a performance that was described as “an evening of first-rate entertainment, full of Celtic pathos and toe-tapping Irish energy.” (The Post and Courier).
