Douglas M. Burney is the Director of Choirs and Department Chair at Gar-Field High School in Woodbridge, Virginia. Under his direction, the choirs have consistently received superior ratings at the district, regional and state levels. They have been recognized as being among the top performing ensembles in the state of Virginia by Jim Moyer, past ACDA President, and have performed in Chicago, New Orleans, New York City, where they gave their debut performance at Carnegie Hall, and most recently Ireland, Wales and London. Mr. Burney received his education from the University of Central Oklahoma, where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education, and from Oklahoma State University, earning his Master of Music degree in conducting under the tutelage of Dr. Jerry McCoy. Mr. Burney is also an accomplished clinician and adjudicator. Mr. Burney is the Assistant Director of the Taylor Festival Choir and he serves on the Board of Directors of the Taylor Music Group.
