Benjamin Lee, baritone, is frequently heard throughout the United States on the opera and musical theatre stage. Noted for his “rich and warm tone,” Benjamin has become an acclaimed young interpreter of comedic opera and operetta. Recent operatic engagements include Figaro and Count Almaviva in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Figaro in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, and Belcore in Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love. In addition, Benjamin has been heard in numerous Gilbert and Sullivan productions, most recently as Captain Corcoran and Joseph Porter in H.M.S Pinafore, Ko-Ko in The Mikado, and The Learned Judge in Trial by Jury. Benjamin’s musical theatre career includes stage revivals of the classic works of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Noel Coward, Cole Porter, and George Gershwin. He has been equally active on the competition circuit, and has received honors in some of the most prestigious competitions in the United States, including the Charles Lynam Vocal Competition and the Orpheus National Vocal Competition. Recently, Benjamin was highlighted as Classical Singer Magazine’s Center State Artist, an accolade given to the most promising young opera singers internationally. Benjamin continues his musical efforts in numerous classical crossover collaborations, and is currently completing the MAT program at the College of Charleston.
